City of Twin Falls News Posted on January 06, 2026

During the first official meeting of the year, the Twin Falls City Council held a swearing-in ceremony to seat three members following the recent City Council election. The ceremony marks the beginning of new four-year terms for the representatives and ensures the continued governance of the City’s elected body.

New and Returning Leadership

The City of Twin Falls welcomed one new face to the council and saw the return of two experienced incumbents:

  • Nathan Murray was sworn into office to represent the seat formerly held by Spencer Cutler. Councilman Cutler, who served the community with distinction, chose not to seek re-election this term
  • Jason Brown was sworn in for another term after successfully winning his re-election bid
  • Chris Reid was also sworn in for a subsequent term following his successful re-election

New Mayor and Vice-mayor

Twin Falls City Council also selected Jason Brown to serve as the next Mayor after outgoing Mayor Ruth Pierce completed two consecutive mayoral terms (Each term is 2 years.) The City of Twin Falls thanks outgoing Mayor Ruth Pierce for honorably serving two Mayoral terms. Mayor Brown also selected Craig Hawkins to serve as his Vice-mayor. The Vice-mayor also serves two-year terms.

Governance Structure

Twin Falls City Council seats are non-partisan and serve at-large. To ensure continuity and stability within the city government, council seat terms are staggered. Each of the members sworn in this week will serve a four-year term that is set to expire in December.

"We are grateful to Spencer Cutler for his years of dedicated service to our citizens and are excited to welcome Nathan Murray to the team," said Twin Falls City Mayor Jason Brown "We have a strong foundation of experience as we look toward the City's future growth and infrastructure goals."

The Twin Falls City Council meets most Mondays each month. Residents are encouraged to attend meetings in person often at the City Council Chambers or view them via the City’s official website TFID.ORG
