Filing for Twin Falls City Council Is Easy as 1, 2, 3...

The Twin Falls City Council consists of seven seats that are open to all city residents on a rotational basis. This page provides the necessary forms and documents required by all candidates to run for office within Twin Falls City Government. 1. Complete and submit a Declaration of Candidacy or Intent for Write-in Candidate

All candidates are required to file for candidacy with the Twin Falls City Clerk. The necessary form is available here.

To be considered a viable write-in candidate, this form must be completed and returned to the Twin Falls City Clerk by 5 p.m. September 5.

2. Review the Campaign Finance Portal for rules regarding campaign finance and reporting

*City council members serve four-year terms that expire in December. Bold years are current seats up for election this year.

Council Candidate Requirements

Candidates for mayor and council may put their names on the ballot by filing a Declaration of Candidacy indicating the office for which they are running, the term of the office, and confirming that they are qualified to hold the office, meaning they are:

  • At least 18 years of age,
  • A U.S. citizen,
  • The candidate’s primary residence must be within the City of Twin Falls,
  • The candidate’s voter registration must match the residents address provided on the candidate’s declaration, and the candidate must have resided in the City of Twin Falls for at least 30 days prior to submitting their declaration.
