Residents can also take refrigerators to the Transfer Station, when they will pay a nominal fee to have the freon removed and the appliance delivered to the Milner Butte Landfill.

Flammable and Combustible Liquids

Mercury

  • Accepted items
    • Elemental mercury (small containers)
    • Thermometers
    • Thermostats
  • Precautions
    • Compact fluorescent lamps cannot be accepted, the Environmental Protection Agency recommends that people double-bag these items in a zip-top bag and dispose of them with their regular household trash
    • Do not dispose of mercury items in the Household Hazardous Waste bin
    • Mercury must be stored inside and handled with care
    • Thermostats and thermometers must be intact and placed in a zip-top bag for proper acceptance
