Police ask motorists to drive with caution through residential areas near Washinton Street North |
Due to numerous complaints, it has come to the attention of the Twin Falls Police Department that motorists have begun using alternative routes through residential areas in order to avoid road construction on Washington Street North.
While police understand why drivers would want to avoid the construction, police are asking drivers to reduce speeds and be more cautious when driving on narrower streets where, in particular, there are more children and pets at risk from the increased traffic.
In an effort to maintain safety, police have stepped up patrols in these areas. Drivers should remember that the speed limit in these unposted residential streets is 25 mph, unless the situation calls for lower speeds.
If you have questions about the actual construction on Washington Street North, we have some answers.

Meet Twin Falls' new mayor: Don Hall |
Twin Falls' newest mayor, Don Hall, has come full circle.
First he worked as a police officer for 12 years for the city of Twin Falls, and now he is on the other side heading City Council as mayor. Mayor Hall was elected unanimously on Jan. 4, 2010 by his peers on the City Council.
Unlike some elected representatives who run for office in order to more effectively “fight city hall,” Mayor Hall says for the most part he just wants to make city hall work even better.
“This is my true feeling: I think we have the best form of government here in Twin Falls. That’s the city manager form of government,” he said.
