Waste disposal guidelines

ACCEPTED ITEMS: All refuse unfit for food and subject to decay; leaves, weeds and lawn clippings; trees up to 6 feet in length that weigh less than 50 lbs.

CART PLACEMENT: By 7 a.m. on your garbage day, please place both your recycling tote and your garbage cart on a level surface on the curb or in alley. Be sure to leave 3 feet between your cart or tote and fences, mailboxes, water meters, posts or parked vehicles. Cart wheels are to be directed towards your house, not the street. The large blue garbage carts can be filled to a total weight of 250 lbs. Please make sure that the lid of the container still closes when filled.

RECYCLING TOTES: Place all of your recycling in the blue totes that have been provided to you.  Use paper or plastic bags to separate cans, newspaper and cardboard. Items to be recycled will be picked up between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on your garbage day.

NOT ACCEPTED ITEMS: No construction materials including: mortar, plastic, paint, scrap lumber and wood shavings; sod, discarded dirt from construction or lawn renovation; rocks, stones, dead animals or manure. No tree limbs larger than 6 feet in length or heavier than 50 lbs.  No automobile bodies or parts.

PLEASE DON'T: Place inside your container such things as flammable items, chemicals, unbagged animal waste, or items that may damage your container. Do not place cart or tote within 3 feet of fences, mailboxes, water meters, posts or parked vehicles.

PLASTIC BAGS: If you place additional bags to be collected they may not be heavier than 35 lbs each.

BUNDLED LIMBS OR SHRUBS: Shrubs and twigs should be tied in small bundles that are shorter than 3 feet in length. You are allowed a maximum of six bundles per week.

Please remember to remove your cart and tote from the street as soon as your garbage has been collected.
